With 10 minutes remaining, jack Miller set a time of 2 minutes, 05.115 seconds. Marc Marquez then moved to the top with a time of 2 minutes, 04.220 seconds, five minutes before the end of the session. A crash by Johann Zarco (LCR-Honda) brought out yellow flags with three minutes left, perhaps hindering Zarco’s chances of a direct Q2 spot.

Fabio di Giannantonio (VR46-Ducati) was second fastest, more than seven-tenths of a second behind. VR46 teammate Franco Morbidelli moved into third place on his final attempt. The two Gresini Ducatis of Alex Marquez and rookie Fermin Aldeguer finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
