Marçal Admitted to Hospital After Debate Altercation

Pablo Marçal,‌ candidate for mayor of São Paulo, spent⁤ the early hours of Monday at the‍ Sírio-Libanês Hospital after⁤ being attacked by José Luiz Datena during the TV Cultura debate.

According to Marçal’s office, the ​candidate broke a ⁢rib and was⁣ required to spend the night in the hospital.‍ A medical ⁤report has not ‌been released, and⁢ Marçal is not expected to be discharged soon.

Marçal underwent treatment and various tests, including‌ a CT scan. As a⁤ result, the campaign agenda for Monday has been cancelled.

Marçal’s lawyer has filed⁣ a⁣ police report against Datena at ‌the 78th Police ‍District. The candidate’s team is also demanding the presence​ of security‌ officers⁤ inside the studios for⁢ upcoming debates.

Marçal Draws Comparison to High-Profile⁤ Attacks

Following the ‍debate, Marçal posted a montage on Instagram‍ featuring images of the altercation,‍ as well‌ as attacks on Bolsonaro and Trump. The caption reads: ⁢”Because of​ all this hate?”

The ⁣comparison highlights the⁢ severity of the incident and the need for increased security measures in future debates.
