Marco Balich Reflects on Olympics, Venice, and Grand Ceremonies

Reflecting on his childhood in Venice,Balich emphasized the city’s unique cultural environment. He noted the blend of wealth and poverty, the absence of chauffeured transportation, and the constant exposure to art through events like the Biennale and Carnival. “Even the simplest [person] knows how to give you a more advanced opinion than any full of San Francisco,” Balich said.
Balich recalled playing basketball and fencing, and working as a DJ during school breaks.He also spent a year studying in chicago.
When asked about the possibility of becoming mayor of Venice, Balich expressed his love for the city and his vision for its future. He envisions Venice as a world center for art, powered by electricity and hydrogen by 2030. He also suggested capping Airbnb rentals to encourage young people to live there.
To combat tourist overcrowding, Balich proposed a Swiss-style entry fee, possibly around 20 euros, valid for the entire year.
I don’t think I am psychologically ready for the compromises of politics, but I have not closed the door.
