Marcos SONA 2025: Social Programs 80% Complete
Marcos Jr.’s Fourth SONA to Highlight Social, Economic Progress Amid Evolving landscape
MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has revealed that his upcoming fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), scheduled for July 28, is nearing completion, with approximately 80 percent of the speech drafted. The address is poised to focus on the governance’s ongoing social and economic programs, reflecting the dynamic changes in the nation’s landscape.
Speaking to the Philippine media delegation in Washington D.C. on Wednesday (Manila time), President Marcos Jr. emphasized that this year’s SONA will naturally differ from previous ones, acknowledging that “the state of the nation today is different from what it was last year and the year before that.”
A Focus on People and Progress
The President articulated that the core message of his SONA will remain centered on the government’s commitment to its citizens, especially those in need. “we will be talking about mainly the same things – about the social projects of the government for people in need,” he stated.
He further elaborated on the administration’s dedication to fostering programs that have been initiated and will continue to be promoted. “We will talk about the programs that we have initiated and will continue to promote and endorse… hopefully it will continue after my term,” Marcos Jr. added, underscoring a vision for sustained progress beyond his current mandate.
SONA Preparation Amidst International Engagements
President Marcos Jr. acknowledged the demanding schedule that accompanies his international engagements, noting that his three-day working visit to the United States had presented challenges in dedicating time to SONA preparations. “We’ve been working very hard on it,” he said, highlighting the team’s efforts. “The SONA is about 80 percent written. Kaunti na lang ‘yung fine-tuning (Only minor fine-tuning is left).”
He confirmed that the final revisions and polishing of the speech would continue once he returns to Manila, ensuring a thorough and impactful delivery.
The President is slated to deliver his fourth SONA on Monday before a joint session of the 20th Congress at the Batasan Pambansa in Quezon City. The address is anticipated to provide a detailed account of the administration’s achievements and future plans, particularly in addressing the social and economic well-being of the Filipino people.
