Margaret Cho has revealed a long-simmering feud with Ellen DeGeneres. Cho, 56, said on the “Kelly Mantle Show” podcast June 20 that DeGeneres was “really weird and not nice” to her for much of her career. She said she opened for DeGeneres in the 1980s, but when she appeared on DeGeneres’ talk show in the 2000s, DeGeneres acted as if they had never met.
Cho found the behavior unsettling. She recalled attending a David Bowie concert in a “giant Chinese emperor outfit.” Bowie reportedly praised her outfit during a subsequent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but the segment was cut.
Cho said she was angered by the cut. A producer told her DeGeneres removed the anecdote, despite Bowie’s enthusiasm. She admitted she is taking it personally.
Representatives for DeGeneres have not commented.
Cho is not the only comedian to voice issues with DeGeneres. Rosie O’Donnell told Us in May that while she harbors no malice, they have unresolved issues. O’Donnell wishes DeGeneres well and hopes for peace and love in her life.
