Marilyn Manson Drops Lawsuit Against Evan Rachel Wood, Pays Legal Fees
Marilyn Manson has dropped his lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood. He must pay her attorney’s fees, totaling nearly $327,000. Manson filed the lawsuit in March 2022 after Wood released her documentary, Phoenix Rising, about surviving abuse.
Manson claimed that Wood and her associate, Illma Gore, hacked his computers and social media accounts, created false evidence, impersonated an FBI agent, and made defamatory statements. Wood’s legal team argued that Manson’s lawsuit aimed to discredit his accusers and revive his career. They stated that his claims were without merit.
In March, a court ordered Manson to pay Wood’s legal fees. He appealed but has now decided to abandon the lawsuit and his appeal. Manson’s attorney stated that he wishes to close this chapter of his life.
Manson has faced accusations of abuse from multiple individuals. Actress Esmé Bianco also sued him for sexual, physical, and emotional abuse in 2021. This case settled out of court in January 2023. Additionally, a lawsuit from Manson’s former personal assistant, Ashley Walters, was reinstated after a court upheld her appeal against an earlier dismissal.
