Mark Henry Suggests babyface Turn for Roman Reigns, Believes Match with The Rock Has Passed

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently proposed a new direction for Roman Reigns’ character arc during an appearance on TMZ Inside The Ring. He lauded The Bloodline saga as “the greatest” storyline in professional wrestling history and offered a creative pitch for its continuation.
when asked about a potential match between Reigns and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Henry stated his initial interest had waned. ”I did [want to see it] when it was before WrestleMania two years ago, but not now,” he said, according to a transcription provided by WrestlingNews.co,referencing his comments on TMZ Inside The Ring.
A Shift in Tribal Leadership
Instead of a showdown with The Rock, Henry advocated for a babyface (heroic) turn for Reigns, grounding it in the Samoan family history. He believes The Rock is the true “Tribal Chief” due to his lineage tracing back to Peter Maivia and the bestowal of the ‘Ula Fala, a symbol of high chiefly status.
Henry explained, “The Rock is really the Tribal Chief. He’s the descendant of Peter Maivia, and he’s had the ‘Ula Fala put on his neck by the high chiefs. so, if anything, now he should inspire not to just be the Tribal Chief, but he should want to be the chief of all chiefs… and he needs the support and the respect of his family, not the fear. And you make him a babyface. Now it would fit like a glove.”
Reigns’ Recent Character Arc
The Bloodline storyline dominated WWE programming for several years. Following a historic championship loss at WrestleMania 40, Roman Reigns took a hiatus from the company. He returned at SummerSlam as a babyface, initiating a feud with Solo Sikoa, the new leader of The Bloodline, which concluded in January.
