MM: I try not to get weighed down by those comparisons. Jamie is an incredible chef and he has inspired many, including myself. We share a similar trajectory early on in our careers, but I see myself as my own person with my own journey.I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had but I do my best to stay humble.

MM: Absolutely. Cooking pushed me out of my comfort zone. In the beginning, I was quite shy and unsure of myself.Being in the kitchen,working alongside other chefs,and having to present my food to guests helped me find my voice. It’s amazing how much cooking can teach you about yourself and your capabilities.

MM: Yes, challenges are unavoidable. If you go into a situation believing that everything will be perfect, your setting yourself up for disappointment. It’s how you respond to those challenges that defines your success. Cooking can be unpredictable, but each setback is a lesson learned. I’ve faced my share, but I’ve always tried to channel that energy into becoming better.
ND3: As you prepare to celebrate your first Christmas as a father, how do you plan to integrate your career with family life?
MM: It’s an exciting time for me! I wont to create special memories with my child during the holidays. Cooking will always be a big part of my life, and I hope to share that love for food with my family. This Christmas, I plan on making some traditions that revolve around cooking together. It’s all about bringing joy to the table.
