Marks & Spencer Opens New Store at Belfast Grand Central Station – The Largest Transport Hub in Ireland
A new Marks & Spencer store has opened in Belfast’s Grand Central Station, the largest train station on the island of Ireland. This opening comes three years after the closure of the M&S branch at Dublin’s Heuston Station.
The store operates under a partnership with SSP Group, which manages food and beverage outlets in travel locations across Britain. This collaboration aims to provide high-quality food options for commuters and travelers.
Belfast Grand Central Station is a key transport hub, featuring eight railway platforms and 26 bus stands. Translink describes it as a “game-changer” for the region, with an expected capacity to serve 20 million passenger journeys each year. The previous station on Grosvenor Road has now closed.
Inside the new M&S store, customers can find a bakery with freshly baked pastries. The ‘Food to Go’ section includes sandwiches, salads, and locally sourced items from Newry-based supplier Around Noon. Popular menu options include wood-fired pizzas and ready meals, along with treats like Percy Pigs.
Eddie Murphy, M&S Country Director in Ireland and Northern Ireland, expressed excitement about the store’s opening. He highlighted its role in supporting local producers and providing fresh food options for on-the-go customers.
