Updated May 31, 2025
Mourners in London are being asked to remove plastic wrappings from floral tributes left at Green Park, next to Buckingham Palace. The Royal Parks, which manages the area, has issued guidance to the public regarding appropriate items for leaving as floral tributes.
To aid in composting the flowers after the funeral, visitors should remove all plastic. Officials also request that people refrain from leaving non-floral items such as teddy bears or balloons. The floral tributes will be composted at least one week after the funeral.
The BBC shared the advice, with presenter Sally Nugent noting the abundance of Paddington Bears and marmalade sandwiches already present. She suggested visitors bring flowers instead of additional bears or sandwiches to leave as floral tributes.
