MANCHESTER, England – Manchester City secured a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, narrowing the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal. Goals from Omar Marmoush adn antoine Semenyo propelled City to 46 points after 23 games, temporarily placing them four points behind Arsenal.
Wolverhampton Wanderers remain at the bottom of the Premier league table wiht eight points, fourteen points away from safety. Arsenal have the possibility to extend their lead to seven points with a win against Manchester United on Sunday.
Marmoush opened the scoring in the sixth minute, capitalizing on a cross from Matheus nunes for his first league goal of the season. He started in place of Erling Haaland, who was returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Semenyo, who joined City from Bournemouth two weeks prior, doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time with his first league goal for the club. He received a pass from Bernardo Silva, controlled the ball, and fired a low shot past goalkeeper Jose Sa.
