Marquette Volleyball Stars Reflect on Historic Season
Milwaukee, WI – The Marquette University women’s volleyball team is riding high after a historic season that saw them clinch the Big East Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.
The Golden Eagles’ success was fueled by a talented roster, including standout players Aubrey Hamilton, Carsen Murray, and Jenna Reitsma.
“This season was truly special,” said Hamilton, a senior outside hitter.”We faced some tough challenges, but we always believed in each other and fought hard every step of the way.”
Murray, a junior setter, echoed Hamilton’s sentiments.”The chemistry on this team was unbelievable. We were like a family, and that made all the difference.”
Reitsma, a sophomore libero, praised the team’s resilience. “We never gave up, even when things got tough. We always found a way to bounce back.”
Head coach Ryan Theis, who led the Golden Eagles to their first-ever Sweet Sixteen appearance, expressed immense pride in his team’s accomplishments.
“This group of young women is truly remarkable,” Theis said. “They worked incredibly hard all season long, and they deserve all the success they’ve achieved.”
Theis also highlighted the importance of the team’s strong bond.
“The relationships these players have built with each other are invaluable,” he said. “They support each other on and off the court, and that’s what makes them such a special team.”
Looking ahead, the Golden Eagles are eager to build on their success and continue to compete at the highest level.
“we’re not satisfied with just making it to the Sweet Sixteen,” Hamilton said. “We want to go even further next year.”
Murray added, “We’re going to work hard in the offseason to get even better. We certainly know we have the potential to achieve great things.”
