Gérignoz Crossroads to Receive Safety and Cycling Improvements
Meaningful upgrades are planned for the Gérignoz crossroads, driven by a thorough safety analysis and recommendations from the Accident Prevention Office. The project prioritizes enhanced cyclist facilities and improved traffic flow, marking a key step in developing a continuous cycle route between Riaz and Rossens.
New Cycle Paths and Road Realignment
Construction will focus on establishing dedicated cycle paths in both directions, spanning from the Vuippens exit to the bridge over Gérignoz. To optimize the intersection, pre-selection lanes on the cantonal road will be reconfigured. Notably, the deceleration and acceleration lanes currently serving traffic from sorens will be removed to streamline traffic patterns.
Enhanced pedestrian and Vehicle Safety
Safety improvements extend beyond cycling. Traffic islands will be constructed on the Sorens road and the access road leading to the Vuippens Wastewater Treatment Plant (STEP).These islands will help to calm traffic and provide safer pedestrian crossings. Furthermore, access to the STEP will be resized to address and prevent recurring issues with illegal parking, improving access for authorized vehicles and maintaining clear roadways.
Public Input Possibility
Detailed plans for these mobility infrastructure improvements are available for public review for a period of 30 days, in accordance with the Swiss Law on Mobility (LMob). Interested parties can consult the plans at the following locations:
- Service de la Planification et de la Construction (SPC) in Friborg (appointments required)
- Municipal Secretariats of Marsens, Pont-en-Ogoz, and Sorens
- Prefecture of Gruyère in Bulle
This project represents a commitment to safer and more sustainable transportation options in the region.
