MIAMI, Fla. – The marshall University Swimming and Diving team kicked off their Florida training camp with a decisive 179-121 victory over FIU on Monday. The Herd showcased their strength, securing 11 wins across 16 events.
“I thought we did a great job of competing tonight,” said Head Coach Ian Walsh. “We talked about supporting one another and focusing on our approach to racing.”
Standout performances came from Paige Banton and Grace Kelsheimer, who each claimed multiple individual victories for Marshall. HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University women’s swimming and diving team made a splash in their season opener, securing a decisive victory over visiting Ohio University at the marshall natatorium. The Thundering herd showcased their depth and talent, claiming first-place finishes in multiple events.
The Herd’s dominance was evident from the start. In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Kate Bolgarskaya, Jenna Bopp, Tatum Robinson, and Nina Nugent clocked an impressive 1:52.65, setting the tone for the meet.
Eszter Laban continued the momentum, taking first place in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:43.79. Teammate Federica Savoia followed closely behind, securing second place with a time of 10:46.62. Charlotte Thompson also contributed to the Herd’s success, finishing fourth in the event with a time of 10:55.80.
Molly Warner emerged victorious in the 200 Freestyle, touching the wall at 1:55.74. Allison Dodd closely trailed Warner, finishing second with a time of 1:55.75. Preslava Tosheva rounded out the top four for the herd, clocking in at 1:56.97.
Kseniia Luniushina dominated the 100 Backstroke, securing first place with a time of 57.89. Mia McBride and Lauren Ramsey also contributed to the Herd’s success in the event, finishing third and fifth respectively.

Paige Banton dominated the 100 breaststroke, claiming first place with a time of 1:05.10. Teammate Audrey West followed closely behind, finishing fourth with a time of 1:06.24.
In the 200 butterfly, Lauren McNamara took home the gold medal, clocking in at an impressive 2:06.57. Eszter Laban also made a splash, securing second place with a time of 2:08.71.
The Herd’s speed was on full display in the 50 freestyle, where Madeline Hart secured a third-place finish with a time of 24.24. Kseniia Luniushina and Parker Lynch also contributed to the team’s success, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Standout performances included Preslava Tosheva’s dominant victory in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at an impressive 5:09.53. Tosheva’s teammate, Federica Savoia, secured a strong second-place finish in the same event with a time of 5:16.52.
The Herd’s depth was on full display in the 100 butterfly, where Madeline Hart claimed second place with a time of 57.10. Lauren McNamara and Katie Fisher also contributed to the team’s success, finishing third and sixth respectively.

Coach Walsh: I was really pleased with the way the team competed in Florida.We talked about supporting each other and focusing on our approach to racing, and they did just that. Coach Walsh: The atmosphere at the Marshall Natatorium was electric.The team was energized and eager to compete in front of our home crowd. The swimmers set the tone early with strong performances in the relays,and that momentum carried thru the meet.
