Details of the Attack
The attack occurred on the evening of April 2, 2026, in the Southwood community. Specifically, the incident took place in the 6000 block of Southeast Black Oak Lane.
Investigators from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office report that the victim was walking her dog when Francilus approached and stabbed her. The victim sustained a significant amount of stab wounds to the upper torso
and died at a hospital.
Prosecutors stated in court on April 3, 2026, that the victim was stabbed upwards of 16 times. Law enforcement officials noted that Francilus continued to stab the victim even as a responding deputy arrived on the scene.
A neighbor attempted to intervene during the assault, according to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek.
