Maryland’s Rose Coats Named Terp of the Week After Record-Setting NCAA Mid-Atlantic Finish
COLLEGE PARK, MD – Each week during the 2024-25 season, a Maryland student-athlete excelling on and off the field will be honored as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week’s Terp of the Week is sophomore Rose Coats from the women’s cross country team. Coats qualified for the NCAA Championship by finishing eighth at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet. She set a new school record for the 6K course, completing it in 19 minutes, 53.8 seconds. This time is over six seconds faster than her previous record. Her eighth-place finish is the second-best individual result in program history. Coats earned NCAA All-Region honors and is now the sixth runner in the program’s history to qualify for the NCAA Championship, the first since Emily Bracher in 2018.
