Massachusetts Man Charged in Steak-Fueled Stabbing

Andrew Horsman, 41, of Massachusetts, ⁤faces a murder charge after allegedly stabbing his mother’s⁢ boyfriend, Paul Pomerleau, 66, during a Saturday night dispute over steaks. The incident occurred at⁣ Pomerleau’s Middleborough⁤ residence, according to police.

During Monday’s arraignment, prosecutor Nicole Piacentini Lawson said Horsman allegedly stabbed Pomerleau 17 times. After Pomerleau collapsed,Horsman poured lighter fluid on him ​but ‌was stopped from setting him ablaze by another relative.

Horsman fled the scene but was soon apprehended and charged with murder, according to the Middleborough Police Department. Pomerleau was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his⁢ injuries within an hour.

Lawson stated that ⁤horsman resided at the home⁢ with his mother and Pomerleau. Witnesses indicated that Pomerleau had previously criticized Horsman‌ for being unemployed​ and living ⁣with his mother.

Joshua Wood, ⁢Horsman’s attorney, argued that the violence stemmed from years of alleged domestic abuse. “These people knew each other,” Wood said. “The history wasn’t always‍ peaceful. This wasn’t a ⁣random act of violence, but frankly a response to years of suffering.”
