Massive Fire in Tondo, Manila Displaces Thousands

On November 24, a large fire broke out in Isla Puting Bato, Tondo, Manila. The fire affected over 1,000 homes and displaced around 2,000 families, according to the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

Multiple government response teams worked together to extinguish the flames. It took six hours to bring the fire under control and an additional two hours to clear the area.

The PAF deployed helicopters to assist in firefighting. The Black Hawk helicopter conducted 15 water drops, the Bell 205 completed 26, and the SOKOL helicopter performed 59 water drops.

Images and updates from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office showed the extent of the damage. The Tutuban Fire Volunteer Association also contributed to the firefighting efforts.

Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties as a result of the fire.
