Massive Marijuana Seizure at Serodino Butcher Shop During Cattle Theft Raid

A court has ordered the preventive detention of a butcher shop owner in Serodino, Santa Fe, after authorities discovered more than 100 kilograms of marijuana stored on the premises during a police raid on May 19, 2026.

The seizure occurred during an investigation into cattle rustling, known as abigeato. While executing search warrants related to the livestock theft, investigators shifted their focus to narcotics after discovering a significant cache of drugs hidden within the business.

Discovery of Narcotics

According to reports from Infobae and El Litoral, police discovered the drugs concealed inside a freezer at the butcher shop. The narcotics were organized into nearly 200 “bricks” or packages, with Infobae specifying that more than 180 individual packages were recovered from the appliance.

The exact weight of the seized marijuana varied across official and news reports. The Government of Santa Fe reported that 109 kilograms of the drug were seized. Other local outlets, including Rosario3 and El Ciudadano, cited figures of 107 kilograms and 103 kilograms, respectively.

Legal Proceedings

The owner of the butcher shop was detained during the operation. Following a judicial review, he was placed in preventive prison as the investigation proceeds.

The suspect now faces legal action involving both the initial allegations of cattle rustling and the subsequent discovery of a large-scale narcotics operation conducted from his place of business.
