Massive Russian Air Attack Hits Ukraine With Nearly 500 Drones and Missiles

Russia launched a massive air attack against Ukraine on April 3, 2026, deploying nearly 500 drones and cruise missiles in broad daylight.

The assault resulted in multiple casualties, with reporting from France Info indicating at least 10 people were killed. The news agency Ukrinform reported that at least one person died and others were injured during the strikes.

Among the confirmed impacts, a drone struck a residential building in the town of Obukhiv.

Rejection of Easter Ceasefire

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the strikes were a direct response to Ukraine’s proposal for an Easter ceasefire. Sybiha noted on the social media platform X that the Russian military deliberately carried out the attacks during daylight hours to maximize damage and civilian casualties.

Pattern of Massive Air Assaults

The April 3 attack follows a series of high-volume air munitions strikes throughout 2025, and 2026. On March 24, 2026, Russia conducted another daytime assault involving over 550 drones, which the Ukrainian Air Force described as one of the most massive attacks of the war.

Earlier incursions included a strike on September 3, 2025, where more than 500 drones and dozens of missiles targeted transport and energy infrastructure across 14 sites, injuring four railway workers.

On August 21, 2025, Russia launched 614 air attack munitions, consisting of 574 drones and 40 missiles. While Ukrainian forces intercepted 546 drones and 31 missiles, the barrage hit 11 locations. One of the missiles struck a Flextronics factory, an American electronics manufacturer producing household items such as coffee machines, in Mukachevo, Zakarpattia region.

Regarding the August 2025 attack on the American investment, President Zelenskyy stated that the choice of target was very telling and called for increased global pressure on Moscow to enter meaningful negotiations.
