Niamh Hogan, the visionary founder and CEO of the award-winning Irish skincare brand Holos Skincare, recently shared the heartwarming details of her intimate wedding celebration, a day marked by genuine connection, family joy, and a departure from traditional wedding norms. The event, described as a “big party with all the crucial people in our lives,” truly embodied a celebration of family and love.
A Day of Personal Touches and Family Connection
The day began with a unique and touching ceremony that involved the youngest guests. “we got all the little kids (those who were old enough to read) to come up and tell us their wish for our future and they were so cute,” Niamh recalled.”It really was a family celebration.”
Rather of traditional rings, Niamh, her husband Paul, and their daughter bella participated in a sand pouring ceremony. “Myself, Paul and Bella did it with three different coloured sands, and that was lovely,” she explained.
The weather outside presented a challenge, with “lashing rain on the day.” However, this only added to the cozy atmosphere indoors. “After the ceremony we all went to the cellar bar in the complex, and as of the weather they had lit the fires and it was so cosy,” Niamh said. The speeches, a highlight of the day, were delivered in a relaxed setting.”We had bubbles there and we did the speeches, but the speeches were so chilled, and we all spoke just sitting down.” This intimate setting fostered a deep sense of connection, with Niamh noting, “It was intimate and meaningful, and we didn’t want that part to end.”
The celebration continued in the barn area, where a long table was set for a buffet meal. The evening was further enlivened by a band that played sing-along songs, prompting Niamh, her sister, and her daughter to join in the singing for much of the night.
Embracing Individuality: A Non-traditional Approach
Niamh and Paul consciously chose to forgo many traditional wedding elements. “We didn’t do most of the traditional stuff; we didn’t have a wedding cake, we didn’t have a first dance,” she stated. Niamh also opted out of a traditional wedding dress. When her mother inquired about her attire, Niamh initially planned to wear something from her own closet. However, her mother insisted on buying her a new outfit, leading Niamh to find a “lovely outfit on Folkster that I still wear to nights out.”
The overall sentiment of the day was one of pure joy and togetherness. “The whole day was just a party really, a big party with all the importent people in our lives and a real celebration of family and love,” Niamh reflected. “and we were all so relaxed and chilled and we had the best time with everyone.”
The Story Behind the Rings: A Meaningful Creation
in a touching anecdote that highlights the enduring nature of their bond, Niamh shared a story about their wedding rings. Approximately three years prior to their wedding, Niamh’s husband surprised her with a workshop where they forged their own wedding rings together.
“I absolutely adore the ring, and I just know that if I’d gotten a ring when we actually got married, I probably would have lost it, or I wouldn’t have worn it, because I would have been afraid I’d lose it, whereas now I never take it off my finger,” Niamh expressed. “It just means so much more to me. And it has its own story.” This personal touch added an even deeper layer of meaning to their commitment.
