Pearl Jam responded with a moving tribute, acknowledging Cameron’s long-standing influence. “From being one of our first musical heroes in the bands Skin Yard and the mighty Soundgarden, to playing on our first demos in 1990, Matt Cameron has been a singular and true powerhouse of a musician and drummer,” the band stated on their social media pages. They emphasized his crucial role in propelling the band’s live performances and studio recordings over the past 27 years, describing his time with the band as a “deeply important chapter.”

Pearl Jam released their twelfth studio album, Dark Matter, in 2023, showcasing the band’s continued creative energy. The album was met with positive reviews, demonstrating their enduring relevance in the contemporary music landscape.
