Matt Damon Joins ‘SNL’ Three-Timers Club: How to Livestream the Episode Online

Matt Damon is set to host Saturday Night Live on May 9, 2026, marking the third time the actor has hosted the comedy series. Damon will be joined by musical guest Noah Kahan, who recently released his fourth studio album, The Great Divide.

The upcoming episode features a pairing of performers with New England roots, as Damon hails from Cambridge and Kahan is from Vermont.

In anticipation of the broadcast, Saturday Night Live released a promotional skit on YouTube that spoofs Good Will Hunting, one of Damon’s most prominent films set in Boston.

The promotional clip depicts Damon approaching Saturday Night Live cast members Sarah Sherman and Jeremy Culhane while they brainstorm a skit on a whiteboard. Upon seeing their work, Damon remarks, I see, you guys are doing, like, a ‘Good Will Hunting’ thing with the chalkboard, and asks if they are aware that the movie is like, 30 years old.

In the sketch, Sherman responds to Damon by stating she has never seen it, dude.

The skit follows Sherman and Culhane as they give up on their brainstorming, leaving Damon alone in front of the board. Mirroring the scenes in Good Will Hunting where the protagonist solves complex mathematical problems, Damon is shown writing furiously on the markerboard to determine the solution for a perfect skit.

The result of Damon’s effort is a pitch for a Bisexual Cigarette Talk Show: Black Snape is host. No Guests.

The promotional video concludes the following day, as Damon returns to the whiteboard where Sherman and Culhane are waiting. When Damon suggests that someone finally cracked it, Culhane responds that they have not even a little bit and asks if Damon was the one who wrote the pitch.

Damon, picking up a nearby mop in a reference to the janitorial role of the character Will Hunting, responds, No, I was cleaning.

The episode is scheduled to air on the NBC Channel on May 9, 2026, at 11:30 p.m.
