Mattituck Cinemas Reopens: Experience New Comfort and Dining Options in North Fork

Mattituck Cinemas Reopens with Exciting Upgrades

MATTITUCK, NY — The North Fork community is celebrating the reopening of Mattituck Cinemas. After months of uncertainty, the beloved theater has returned to showing first-run films every day.

The theater briefly closed in 2023. During that time, it experimented with classic films and activities like axe-throwing and paint smashing. Now, it has fully shifted back to movies.

Mattituck Cinemas has undergone significant updates. It now features leather reclining seats and a new audio/visual system. The concession stand has also expanded. Customers can enjoy Lucharitos food, including margaritas, alongside traditional popcorn and candy.

Current showings include “The Wild Robot,” “Venom: The Last Dance,” and “Conclave.” Next week, movie-goers can look forward to “Wicked,” “Moana 2,” and “Gladiator.”

Marc LaMaina, owner of Lucharitos, collaborates with the Cardinale family, who owns the theater. LaMaina expressed excitement about being part of the theater’s revival. He noted that the Cardinale family invested in renovating three original theaters, creating modern spaces that include state-of-the-art technology.

LaMaina reflected on the impact of COVID-19 on the theater business, saying it was challenging when they opened Lucharitos next door. He described the struggles they faced during the winter months and how they tried various activities to attract visitors, which ultimately did not succeed until the theater’s reopening was announced.

LaMaina praised the theater’s transformation, calling it the best among independent theaters. The community is thrilled to have the cinema back.

Recent community efforts in Greenport also highlight the importance of local theaters. Fundraising efforts led to the opening of the North Fork Arts Center at the Sapan Greenport Theatre.
