Dundalk mourns the passing of Maureen Mullen (née Murphy), a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025. Maureen, formerly of cherryvale, Bay Estate, passed away in the tender care of Blackrock Abby Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Her departure marks the end of a cherished life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for all who knew her.
A life Richly Lived and Deeply loved
Maureen’s life was a testament to the enduring power of family and connection. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerry (Guider), and her parents, Michael and Rose-Ella. She also joins her siblings Gerard, Naula, Peter, Oliver, Agnes, Jim, Tony, Michael, and Eamonn, who have gone before her.
her devotion to her children, Tony and Maria, was a cornerstone of her life. Maureen will be forever loved and deeply missed by them, and also by her son-in-law John Fitzgerald and daughter-in-law Taryna Mullen.The joy she found in her grandchildren – Seán, Roísín, and Darragh – was evident to all. She shared a special bond with Seán’s partner Claire and Roísín’s husband Kevin,and her great-grandchildren,Isabella,Sam,and Kate,were a source of immense delight.
maureen’s warmth extended to her brothers Brian and Vincent, and to her many brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and extended family. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and joy to her wonderful neighbours and friends, who will deeply feel her absence.
Honoring maureen’s Memory: Funeral Arrangements
The community will gather to celebrate Maureen’s life and pay their respects.
Viewing and Vigil
Maureen will be reposing at her daughter Maria’s home, located at Hawthorn Crescent, Bay Estate, Dundalk [A91T6D6], on Thursday. The viewing will be open from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering an opportunity for loved ones to share memories and offer comfort.
Funeral Mass and Burial
A solemn Funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning at 10:40 AM at St. Joseph’s Redemptorist Church. The service will commence at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend in person, the family kindly invites you to join virtually via the Church webcam service. A link for the live stream will be provided.
Following the Mass,maureen will be laid to rest in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Please note: The family requests that the house remain private on Friday morning.
