Mauritania’s Cancer Recovery Rate: A Promising Outlook
The Ministry of Health in Mauritania has reported a cancer recovery rate of 40% to 60% among its citizens, a statistic deemed encouraging and reflective of the country’s healthcare standards for this disease.
Alalia Yahya Mankus, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, made this announcement during the launch of the “Steps of Hope” march, a collaborative effort between the Children’s Department at the National Oncology Center and the Association of Doctors Against Cancer.
Commitment to Fighting Cancer
Mankus emphasized the government’s dedication to combating cancer, highlighting the potential for improvement in recovery rates through early diagnosis.
Early detection plays a crucial role in cancer treatment, as it increases the chances of recovery and makes treatment more effective and affordable.
Global Cancer Recovery Rates
According to data from the World Health Organization, over 80% of children with cancer in developed countries achieve recovery, whereas this percentage drops to around 20% in low- or middle-income countries, particularly in Africa.
