National Assembly Approves Government’s General Policy Statement
The National Assembly has given its confidence to the government after approving the general policy statement presented by Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Ajay.
The vote, which took place on Saturday night/Sunday night, saw 140 representatives vote in favor of the statement, while 25 voted against it. There were no abstentions.
According to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mohamed Bemp Makt, the results of the vote were as follows:
- Yes votes: 140
- No votes: 25
- Abstentions: 0
The Speaker explained that the National Assembly’s decision was made in accordance with the Constitution and the Assembly’s by-laws, which require a certain number of votes to pass a motion of confidence.
