Macau Set to Host NBA Action
Following the growing trend of NBA games in international markets, particularly after the success of regular-season games in Las Vegas, the league is bringing its pre-season contests to Macau. The Venetian Arena in Macau will host the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets for games as part of the NBA’s China Games series.
This marks the third time Macau will serve as a host city for NBA international games, demonstrating a strong and growing fan base in the region. NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum highlighted the enthusiasm for the league in China and across Asia following earlier games held in Macau this season.
A Growing Trend of International Games
The NBA has strategically increased its presence abroad through pre-season games,focusing on regions like Asia and the Middle East. In addition to the upcoming Macau games, the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers recently played pre-season games in Abu Dhabi, and the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat competed in Puerto Rico. While the NBA has yet to stage a regular-season game within China, the league continues to explore opportunities for international expansion. This year already saw games played in Mexico City on November 1, featuring the Mavericks and Detroit Pistons. upcoming games include a January 15th matchup between the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies in Berlin, and a January 18th game in London.
