Max Von Essen and Tyne Daly Cast as Tommy Albright and Widow Lundie

The Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, has announced the full casting and creative team for its upcoming production of Lerner & Loewe’s Brigadoon. The production will feature a new adaptation by Alexandra Silber, which is inspired by the original book by Alan Jay Lerner.
Tony Award and six-time Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly will star as Widow Lundie, a role previously known as Mr. Lundie. Joining Daly is Tony Award nominee Max von Essen, known for his work in An American in Paris, Anastasia, and Evita, who will play the role of Tommy Albright.
The lead cast also includes Broadway’s Betsy Morgan, who has appeared in Kimberly Akimbo, The King and I, and A Little Night Music, as Fiona MacLaren. Happy Anderson, known for The Merchant of Venice and Netflix’s Mindhunter, will play Jeff Douglas, while Daniel Yearwood, known for Hamilton and Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, will portray Charlie Dalrymple.
Creative Team and Production
Katie Spelman is serving as the director and choreographer for the production. Spelman previously made her Broadway choreographic debut with The Notebook.

The production utilizes a new adaptation of the book by Alexandra Silber, with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The production also incorporates original dances created by Agnes DeMille.
Casting for the production was handled by Ryan Bernard Tymensky of RBT Casting, with Dana Ellis serving as the associate casting director.
Supporting Cast and Ensemble
The supporting cast includes Brian Calì, of Broadway’s Master Class, as Angus and the understudy for Archie. Kylie Victoria Edwards, from the Anastasia 1st National Tour, will play Jean MacLaren, and Michael Scott Harris, of Musical Theatre West’s Ragtime, will play Archie Beaton.

The ensemble is rounded out by Amanda Clement (Tammy Faye), Sophie Liu David (Catch Me If You Can), Evan Kinnane (Moulin Rouge!), Maddie Miller Lacambra (Sweeney Todd), Julia Wheeler Lennon (The Bridges of Madison County), Gabriel Navarro (A Christmas Story), Amy Smith (Anastasia), and Gil Sweeney (Brooklyn Pop).
Specific understudy roles include Sophie Liu David as the understudy for Jean and Evan Kinnane as the understudy for Harry Beaton. Amanda Clement will understudy Maggie, and Maddie Miller Lacambra will serve as a swing.
Plot and Performance Schedule
Brigadoon originally premiered on Broadway in 1947. The story follows two American tourists, Tommy and Jeff, who encounter a mysterious Scottish village that only appears for one day every 100 years. The narrative focuses on the conflict that arises when one of the Americans falls in love with a local woman and must decide if he is willing to leave his former life behind.
The production will feature the Broadway standards Almost Like Being In Love
and The Heather on the Hill
, accompanied by a live orchestra.
The production is scheduled to run from May 13 to June 14, 2026, with the official opening night taking place on May 17, 2026.
