New Deductions for “Dana” Storm Damage
Two new social deductions are available this year on the regional portion of the income tax return for those impacted by the “Dana” storm.
Homeowners can deduct 100% of repair expenses for their primary residence,up to a maximum of 2,000 euros. This applies to tax periods ending in 2024 and 2025. Eligible expenses include construction of walls, painting, repairs to facilities, and replacement of elements such as heating systems, elevators, and security doors.
Businesses can deduct 45% of investments in the creation or expansion of capital for certain entities, up to 9,900 euros per taxpayer. This deduction is applicable in tax periods ending in 2024 and 2025. The aim is to “contribute to obtaining own resources by entities that develop economic activities and have their registered office and fiscal domicile within the territorial scope affected” by the floods.
Social deductions introduced last year remain in place for the second consecutive year. Taxpayers can deduct 30% of expenses related to oral health,sports,and mental health,up to 150 euros. A deduction of 30% is also available for expenses related to the acquisition of graduated lenses, brain damage or Alzheimer’s, and chronic or rare diseases, up to 100 euros.
Deducting Expenses for Dentists, Psychologists, and Gyms
Young people under 35 can benefit from a 25% tax reduction on the purchase of their first home, provided the cost is less than 180,000 euros. The interest rate will decrease from 8% to 6%. To claim this deduction, taxpayers should refer to Box 1092 in the draft declaration.
Since last year, a 30% deduction is available for expenses related to healthy sports activities, from gym memberships to any federated sport for any family member. This should be indicated in Box 1960.
