Several key appointments and investment activities are shaping the landscape of private equity and wealth
management firms.
Ashley Velategui has been named head of Wealth Strategies Group at Bernstein Private Wealth Management, a unit of
AllianceBernstein L.P. Velategui,based in Seattle,will lead a team advising high-net-worth clients on
financial planning,philanthropy,and investment implementation. She will report to Alex Chaloff, head of
investments and wealth strategies. Velategui joined the group in 2011 and was most recently the national
director of planning research.
Curated Wealth Partners, a multi-family office serving ultra-high-net-worth clients, has appointed Nellie Keyhani
as director of client advisory. Keyhani brings nearly two decades of experience advising high-net-worth
individuals and families. She previously worked at Iconiq Capital, providing strategic guidance on wealth
management, private investing, and family office operations.
DW Healthcare Partners, a healthcare-focused private equity firm, has promoted Michael Barulich to principal.barulich,who joined the firm in 2017 and works in the Park City office,currently serves on the board of
Public Partnerships LLC and previously served on the Spectrum and SoClean boards. He began his career at
JPMorgan.
Stephan Scholl has been appointed as an operating partner by Advent International. Scholl will collaborate with
Advent’s team and portfolio companies to identify and execute new deals, while also supporting value creation
initiatives. Previously, Scholl served as CEO of Alight Solutions, a cloud-based provider of digital human
capital and business services.
Joshua Liebow has been promoted to partner by MPE Partners, a private equity firm based in Cleveland and
Boston. Liebow joined MPE’s Boston office as a principal after more than 20 years at Manulife Investment
Management. He was co-head of the junior credit platform since 2021 and focused on leading junior capital
financings and equity co-investments in middle market companies.
SavvyMoney, a provider of financial wellness tools, has acquired CreditSnap, a fintech solution provider that
powers integrations to digital loan and account onboarding solutions for banks and credit unions. The platform
integrates with over 73 loan origination, core, and digital banking systems, reducing loan application time
significantly.
Bain Capital is set to privatize japanese logistics firm Nissin Corp. through a management buyout valued at
approximately ¥112 billion ($756 million). bain plans to acquire 13.85 million shares at ¥8,100 (around $54.52)
each. New overtime work regulations in Japan have increased operational costs and prompted smaller firms to seek
mergers or acquisitions.
The Los angeles Chargers are in advanced talks to sell a minority stake to private equity firm arctos Partners,
according to Bloomberg. If completed,the deal would make the Chargers the third NFL team to sell a stake to
institutional investors. Arctos, already an investor in the Buffalo Bills, is reportedly furthest along in
negotiations with the Chargers.
Polar Asset Management in Toronto has acquired Castlefield Associates, a $160 million relative value systematic
futures hedge fund firm. The purchase price was not disclosed. The acquisition will enhance Polar’s offerings,
including the polar Multi-Strategy Fund and Polar Long/Short Fund.
Colovore, an owner and operator of data centers, has closed a $925 million debt facility provided by Blackstone
funds.This follows King Street Capital Management’s acquisition of the company to accelerate the development
of new AI data centers. Colovore’s liquid-cooled facilities are designed to support the demands of modern AI
chips.
Aypa Power, a Blackstone portfolio company, has closed on $535 million in debt financing to advance a 320-MW
solar-plus-storage project in San Bernardino County, CA. The Vidal project combines 160 MW of solar generation
with a 160 MW / 640 MWh battery energy storage system and is expected to be online in 2026.
L Catterton has lead a $42 million funding round with India-based snack company Farmley,with participation from
DSG Consumer Partners. Farmley offers health-focused snacks, and the funding will support its growth in India’s
dried fruit and nut segment.
Renown Capital Partners, an investment firm focused on growth-stage tech companies in the energy sector, has
formally launched with $250 million in anchor capital from Moore Capital Management and The Daily Mail and
General Trust. Renown launches with a portfolio of six companies and recently led the Series C financing of
Utilidata.
VMG Partners, a growth equity firm, has closed VMG Partners VI, L.P. at its target and hard cap of $1 billion.Over the past two decades, VMG has invested in more than 60 consumer brands, including KIND Snacks and
Spindrift.
Denali Growth Partners has announced the final close of Denali Growth Partners Fund II at $400 million in total
limited partner capital commitments. The firm focuses on healthcare, life sciences, professional services,
tech-enabled platforms and services, and software.
