ND3: Mayhem headlining the Decibel Magazine tour is a huge deal for black metal fans. What makes this lineup so unique?
[Name]: It’s fantastic to see Mayhem back on the Decibel tour. They are legends in the genre and haven’t toured extensively in North America for some time. This lineup is particularly exciting because it showcases the breadth of extreme metal. You have the pioneering black metal of Mayhem, the gothic, atmospheric dungeon synth of Mortiis, the cinematic heaviness of Imperial Triumphant, and the raw energy of New Skeletal faces. It’s a blend that will appeal to a wide range of metalheads.
ND3: Mayhem has had a long and sometiems controversial history. What do you think they bring to the table in 2025?
[Name]: Mayhem’s story is as captivating as their music. They’ve been through a lot, but they’ve always remained true to their brutal, uncompromising sound. In 2025, I expect them to deliver the same intense, raw performance that has made them one of the most influential bands in black metal.
ND3: This tour is happening just a year after Cannibal Corpse headlined. What does it say about the state of extreme metal that these veteran acts are still drawing large crowds?
