Mayo’s All-Ireland Heroes Storm Electric Picnic Stage
Members of the All-Ireland-winning Mayo senior football panel delivered a surprise musical collaboration at Electric Picnic on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Festival-goers gathered as green and red strobe lighting backlit the stage for the performance. Speculation had swirled in the days leading up to the appearance after festival organizers hinted that a major moment was planned for Mayo and the legendary band. Captain Jack Coyne, Kobe McDonald, and Jordan Flynn were among the players invited into the spotlight.
Players Describe the Staggering Scale of the Crowd
The Crossmolina player, who recently committed to St Kilda in the Australian Football League, added that the scale of the audience was staggering. I think there was probably a couple more than 50,000 [people] too, that was nuts out there, but yeah, pretty cool,
he said.
Inside the Impromptu Backstage Logistics
His teammate Jordan Flynn echoed those sentiments, calling the experience absolutely outrageous, probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced.
Flynn credited teammate Eoin McGreal for spearheading the move into the crowd to get the players on stage. Thank God McGreal decided to take a chance and shoot down the middle and get us all in,
Flynn told The Mayo News.
McGreal explained the impromptu stage invasion logistics, noting that someone had to make the initial push. One of us had to decide to go, who’s going down, so I said grab Fenton, and we’ll go down the strip,
McGreal said.
Capping a Historic Summer Without the Sam Maguire
While the famous Sam Maguire Cup did not make an appearance during the set, the festival cameo capped off a historic summer for the county. The celebration followed Mayo’s victory in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship weeks prior, which ended a 75-year title drought at Croke Park.

Footage of the Electric Picnic singsong quickly circulated online via Laois Live, drawing thousands of views across social media platforms.
