An Exclusive Look at Shakira’s Return to the Stage in Bogotá, Colombia
On February 26, 2025, the Estadio El Campin in Bogotá, Colombia, was transformed into a vibrant stage for one of the most internationally celebrated artists, Shakira. The Colombian sensation brought her Women No Longer Cry world tour
, featuring iconic hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Waka Waka,” and “Loba,” to the capital city. The concert came after her highly-publicized breakup with former FC Barcelona soccer star Gerard Piqué, marking her return to the limelight.
For Shakira, the separation was a challenging period. In an interview, she described it as one of the most difficult times in her life. However, she drew on her immense courage and prepared to win over the hearts of thousands of Bogotá fans.
Shakira has been expanding her reach to U.S. audiences. Her recent performance at the Super Bowl LIV rendered her a household name in the country. The concert in Bogotá, Colombia, is bound to advance that reach as she has shown her international importance.
Notable personalities and politicians attended Shakira’s concert, including Bogotá’s Mayor, Carlos Fernando Galán. He couldn’t hid his gratitude and joy for the drummer “La Loba” performance:
“I’m very happy about this concert. It’s another proof that Bogotá is a city of big shows and big artists, because all the biggest in the world are coming to our city.” — Carlos Fernando Galán.
Mayor Galán boasted that Bogotá is becoming a city where events unfold in a seamless manner. He ensured the two-day show, on February 26 and 27, went off without any hiccups, taking meticulous care to ensure the smooth operation and security of these events. He disclosed that a force of 1,200 police officers, in tandem with numerous national government officials, were deployed to maintain public safety.
His administration’s efforts included multiple initiatives to ensure audience safety, which were complemented by an extended operational night schedule of the public transport systems.
Galán even admitted it was his daughter’s favorite song performance by the singer from Colombia, Shakira. He was excited to see Shakira move with stage grace and talent.
TransMilenio, the bus rapid transit system in Bogotá, will extend its services to 12:30 a.m. to facilitate participants’ return. Also, specific routes of the Integrated Public Transportation System (SITP) along with trunk services were dispensed to connect the stadium with crucial portals.
The special expanded schedule applies to the SITP routes connecting Bogota’s Campín stadium with major locations like the Unicentro mall and the National Museum.
These routes will begin operations from Diagonal 61B, situated on the northeast side of the Campín. They’ll also offer two primary destinations:
- Septimazo – Museo Nacional: This route will take the seventh race to get to the Museum and then return through Carrera 15 and Carrera 11, finishing up at Diagonal 61B.
- Septimazo – Unicentro: This course will move through the seventh race, seventh street, Carrera 24, Carrera 20 and Carrera 26 Avenue, climbing the Carrera 7 and Carrera 63 Boulevard back to the starting position.
The concert embodied an intertwining of nationalism with Shakira making time for the Presidents from neighboring countries to speak at her concerts.
Everyone was super pleased with the concerts. Amply proves that Bogotá is a city of major events and artists. In reality, some of the greatest names in the world came to our city.
Concert safety and security was at the helm during production given the monitoring with police surveilance and National Institution monitoring.
Current policies and advances in the city are planning for security surveillance to wear a capacitess everywhere. — Carlos Galan
