The defense of the executive secretary of Health of João Pessoa, Janine Lucena, categorically denied any involvement in organized crime, after her name was mentioned in an investigation within the scope of Operation Mandare.

The charges, which relate to messages allegedly linking the secretary to a criminal organisation, were promptly denied by Janine’s legal team and deemed unfounded, after being investigated by the Federal Police.

According to Janine’s defence, the messages in question were not found on the secretary’s mobile phone during the investigation carried out by the Federal Police.

“The messages attributed to Janine are not recognized by her and were not found on her devices. We even question the origin of these messages and their authenticity, because they may have been staged”, said lawyer Gustavo Botto.

In collaboration with the investigations, Janine Lucena voluntarily provided her personal computers and mobile phone, contributing in every possible way to the investigation of the facts. The expertise of the Federal Police concluded that the secretary was not involved in the organization under investigation.

“There have been no indictments or criminal proceedings against Janine. After the investigation, it became clear that she has no links with any criminal organization”, pointed out the defense.

Furthermore, the case had no developments in relation to the secretary, confirming that there is no pending criminal case against her. Janine Lucena’s defense also reinforces that the secretary’s actions continue to be guided by ethics and dedication to public health, and that any attempt to tarnish her reputation is electoral and defamatory in nature.

The defense also points to the fact that Janine has all negative certificates, which prove that there is no criminal case against her.

“They’re trying to reheat the news, bring this news, even with false information, even on the national stage. There is nothing against it, except the intention of making this an electoral case”, said Botto.
