Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2: Live on Netflix – Date, Venue & How to Watch

Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2: Live on Netflix – Date, Venue & How to Watch

February 25, 2026 Lisa Park - Tech Editor Tech

The rivalry that defined a generation of boxing is set for a rematch. September 19, 2026, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. And Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao will step back into the ring, not in a traditional arena, but inside the Sphere in Las Vegas, and the fight will be streamed live exclusively on Netflix. This marks a significant expansion for Netflix into live sports, and a first for the cutting-edge Sphere venue.

The original Mayweather-Pacquiao bout in May 2015 was a cultural phenomenon, becoming the highest-grossing fight in boxing history. It shattered pay-per-view and live gate records, with Mayweather securing a unanimous decision to claim the WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight titles. The rematch aims to recapture that magic, leveraging the immersive technology of the Sphere to deliver a global sporting event.

The Sphere: A New Venue for Boxing

The choice of the Sphere as the venue is noteworthy. The Sphere is a relatively new entertainment venue in Las Vegas, known for its massive LED screen and immersive audio system. It represents a significant departure from traditional boxing arenas. This will be the first live boxing event hosted at the Sphere, presenting unique challenges and opportunities for both fighters and the streaming broadcast. The Sphere’s internal LED screen, spanning a vast area, will likely play a role in enhancing the viewing experience for both the live audience and those watching on Netflix.

Netflix’s Expanding Role in Live Sports

Netflix’s foray into live sports is relatively recent, but rapidly accelerating. The Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch is the latest in a series of high-profile events the streaming giant has secured. Just weeks prior, on May 16, 2026, Netflix will host its first-ever mixed martial arts event, featuring Ronda Rousey against Gina Carano. On April 11, 2026, boxing legend Tyson Fury will return to the ring to face Arslanbek Makhmudov, streamed live from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the United Kingdom. These events follow a successful run of boxing matches in 2025 and 2026, including Anthony Joshua’s victory over Jake Paul, Terence Crawford’s win over Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, and Taylor–Serrano 3. Notably, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson drew 108 million live global viewers, becoming the most-streamed sporting event in history and Netflix’s first foray into boxing.

Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Sports at Netflix, emphasized the significance of bringing this rematch to the platform. “Earlier in my career, I spent weeks in Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s training camps in Las Vegas and the Philippines,” Spitzer said. “It was undeniable that they were the two hardest workers in boxing, and their wins and accolades were a product of that. Bringing this rematch to Netflix is a massive ‘full circle’ moment. We’re thrilled to combine their storied rivalry with the immersive technology of Sphere to deliver a landmark sporting event to our members worldwide.”

The Fighters’ Journeys to the Rematch

Both Mayweather and Pacquiao have experienced periods of retirement and return since their first encounter. Mayweather, with a perfect 50-0 record, officially retired in 2017 but has since participated in exhibition matches, including one against Logan Paul in 2021. This rematch marks his fourth time coming out of retirement. Pacquiao, after initially retiring in 2021 to focus on his political career, returned to boxing in July 2025, defeating WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. The motivation for Pacquiao appears to be a desire to definitively settle the score with Mayweather. “I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him,” Pacquiao stated. “As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines.”

Mayweather, characteristically, offered a more succinct assessment: “I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result.”

Production and Promotion

The event is being organized and produced by EverWonder Studio, Hidden Empire and Limitless X Holdings. The promotion is a collaborative effort between Manny Pacquiao Promotions, Mayweather Promotions, and CSI Sports/Fight Sports. This multi-party involvement underscores the scale and importance of the event.

Implications for the Future of Live Sports Streaming

The Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch on Netflix is more than just a boxing match; it’s a test case for the future of live sports streaming. Netflix’s aggressive push into live sports signals a broader trend of streaming services vying for exclusive sports rights. The success of this event, and others like it, will likely influence how other streaming platforms approach live sports broadcasting. The combination of a high-profile event, a technologically advanced venue, and a global streaming platform represents a significant evolution in how sports are consumed. The event’s global reach, facilitated by Netflix’s streaming infrastructure, will be a key factor in its success, potentially attracting a wider audience than traditional pay-per-view models.
