Mbappé’s Legal Battle Against PSG Hits Roadblock
Paris Saint-Germain Wins Round in Dispute with Mbappé Over Unpaid Wages
Kylian Mbappé’s week has taken a turn for the worse. After suffering a thigh injury during Real Madrid’s match against Atalanta Bergamo on Tuesday, the French superstar now faces a setback in his legal battle against his former club, paris Saint-Germain.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel’s (LFP) disciplinary commission has ruled mbappé’s claim for €55 million in unpaid wages adn bonuses “irreceivable.” This decision comes after the LFP’s legal and appeals commissions previously ordered PSG to pay the sum.
“We are very satisfied that the disciplinary commission decided not to sanction Paris Saint-Germain as the player requested,” a PSG spokesperson told L’Equipe. ”by declaring his request inadmissible, the disciplinary commission puts an end to this sequence that has gone on for too long.”
Heading to Labour Court?
While the disciplinary commission’s ruling is a victory for PSG, the legal battle is far from over. Both parties are expected to face off in labor court, where PSG intends to “fully expose the situation before the competent tribunal.” The club expressed hope for an amicable resolution, stating, “We reiterate our hope that an amicable solution can be found so that all parties can finally turn the page.”
The dispute stems from an agreement reached between Mbappé and PSG in the summer of 2023. after Mbappé refused to extend his contract and was subsequently sidelined by the club, he reportedly agreed to forfeit €55 million in various bonuses if he left on a free transfer at the end of the season.
This latest development adds another layer of complexity to Mbappé’s already tumultuous transition to Real Madrid. As he recovers from his injury, the French forward will now have to navigate a potentially lengthy legal process with his former club.
