Anna: Hey, Ben, did you hear about that awful situation happening at the McDonald’s in Taipei?

Ben: No, I haven’t.What happened?

Anna: It’s absolutely heartbreaking. A young student who worked there ‍as a work-study student tragically took his own life.⁢ Apparently, he had been assaulted by his‍ supervisor.

Ben: Oh my gosh, ‌that’s terrible. What a horrible thing⁢ to go through. ‌

Anna: ⁤I know, right? And sadly, it seems ⁢like he wasn’t getting the support he needed from McDonald’s after reporting the assault. He even threatened to vandalize a restaurant ‌in a phone ⁤call ‍to their customer service line before his death.

Ben: That’s just awful. So what happened to him after he made the threat?

Anna: ⁤ ⁤Police were called, and they found him to ⁢be deeply remorseful about the threat. He was obviously going through a lot emotionally.

Ben: ⁤ I can’t imagine what he must have been feeling. It⁢ sounds like ⁤McDonald’s failed him twice: first by not ‍adequately protecting him from assault and then by not providing him with the support he needed after it happened.

Anna: Right, and they were already fined for not⁣ handling sexual harassment cases properly ⁤in the past. This whole situation is just a huge tragedy and a real ‍wake-up call about workplace safety. ‍

Ben: Absolutely. It makes you‌ wonder‌ what kind of protections are in place for ‌workers, ‍notably young people, and if companies are taking their responsibility seriously.

Anna:** Exactly. hopefully, this case will force companies to take a hard ‍look at their own policies and create a safer environment for all employees.
