McIlroy Faces Driver Dilemma After Canadian Open Cut

Rory McIlroy’s search for the “missing piece” off the tee continues after he missed the cut at the RBC canadian Open. The world-class golfer,known for his powerful drives,struggled with accuracy,carding a disastrous eight-over-par round.This marks his first missed cut since the Open in July.
The struggles are a concern for McIlroy as he heads to Oakmont for next week’s U.S. Open.He had hoped a new driver would solve his problems, but the results at the Canadian Open suggest or else. McIlroy only managed to hit four fairways during his second round.
Despite the setback, McIlroy is determined to find solutions. He plans to spend the weekend testing different drivers, prioritizing ball speed even if it means sacrificing some accuracy. This adjustment reflects his understanding that distance can be an advantage, even with the risk of missing fairways.
“Of course it concerns me. You don’t want to shoot high scores like the one I did today,” McIlroy said.
McIlroy acknowledged the need to hit fairways at Oakmont, making his current struggles even more pressing. He believes that once he resolves his driving issues, the rest of his game will fall into place.The U.S. Open presents a significant challenge, and McIlroy is committed to finding the right formula for success.
“I think there’s still learnings that you have to take from a day like today,” he said.
