McLeod Health Receives 2024 Zero Harm Awards

On November 20, 2024, McLeod Health’s hospitals earned 2024 Zero Harm Awards from the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA). These awards recognize hospitals committed to eliminating medical errors and enhancing patient safety. The hospitals include McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, and McLeod Regional Medical Center.

The SCHA started the Zero Harm Awards in 2014 to honor hospitals that excel in preventing medical errors. These errors are among the leading causes of death in the United States. The awards focus on maintaining zero incidents of hospital-acquired infections and are verified by the South Carolina Department of Public Health (SCDPH).

SCHA President and CEO Thornton Kirby stated that the success of these awards is reflected in lives saved and the economic benefits. He emphasized the importance of safety and the mission of hospitals to save lives.
