Meath Manager McCormack Steps Down
Shane McCormack Steps down as Meath Ladies Football Manager
Shane McCormack has resigned as manager of the Meath Ladies’ Gaelic Football team just weeks following their All-Ireland final defeat to Dublin on August 3, 2025.the 2-16 to 0-10 loss marked a disappointing end to a promising season for the Royal County.
A Season of Ups and Downs
McCormack, originally from Kildare, took the helm before the 2024 season. While that campaign ended with an All-Ireland quarter-final loss to eventual champions Kerry, this year saw critically important progress. Meath impressively dethroned the reigning champions in the semi-final, signaling a shift in the competitive landscape of Ladies’ Gaelic football.
Management Changes
Alongside McCormack, performance coach Tony reilly has also departed the Meath Ladies’ management team. The dual departures represent a significant change for the program as it looks toward the future.
LGFA Statement
Meath LGFA released a statement expressing gratitude for McCormack and Reilly’s contributions. The institution acknowledged their “dedication, commitment, and contribution to the team” and wished them well in their future endeavors, highlighting the positive impact they had on players, management, and supporters.
The search for a new manager is expected to begin immediately, with the LGFA aiming to appoint a successor who can build on the foundations laid by McCormack and continue Meath’s ascent in the Ladies’ Gaelic Football arena.
