Expanding Sports Coverage for Singaporean Viewers

Singaporean audiences will soon have increased access to live Premier League soccer through a new licensing agreement between Mediacorp, the nation’s state broadcaster, and starhub, a leading telecommunications provider. this collaboration brings StarHub TV+ content, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and National Basketball Association (NBA), to Mediacorp’s ‘mewatch’ digital streaming service.

starhub secured the rights to broadcast all 380 Premier League matches in 2022 wiht a six-year deal, successfully competing against incumbent broadcaster Singtel. This partnership extends that reach, offering greater flexibility for viewers.

Flexible Viewing Options and Enhanced Value

Both Mediacorp and StarHub are committed to providing customers with flexible viewing options, including micro-packages designed to cater to diverse preferences and budgets. This move addresses a growing demand for personalized entertainment experiences.

Nikhil Eapen, Chief executive of StarHub, emphasized the company’s dedication to improving access to content, stating the partnership aims to deliver “the widest, most exciting portfolio of content…in ways that are simple, flexible, and accessible.”

Benefits for Advertisers and a Richer Entertainment Experience

The collaboration isn’t just beneficial for viewers. Tham Loke Kheng, Chief Executive of Mediacorp, highlighted the value for advertisers, noting that the combined platforms will provide “the most extensive suite of solutions across TV, digital, and data-driven platforms for the most effective campaign outcomes.”

Ultimately,the partnership aims to deliver a richer and more engaging entertainment experience for audiences in Singapore,leveraging the strengths of both organizations to create a more dynamic media landscape.
