In the complaint, the students alleged that the university ⁣had reduced the number of places in the Linear Progression‍ Course (CPL) from 41 to 32, which⁢ is the BI migration process for certain⁤ undergraduate courses, for the field of Medicine.

According to Ufba, ⁤based on ‌the‌ collective sanction ⁣of the internal community,⁢ the university established the Special Selection⁣ Process for Graduate Students in ⁢the Interdisciplinary⁣ Baccalaureate (BI) for Access to Linear ⁣Progression Courses (CPL), for the second academic semester 2024.

Asked by the MPF, ⁣in January 2024, about the possibility of holding the contest, Ufba said that the measure had already been⁤ approved ⁣by the Academic Council. Therefore, in addition to the regular selection process for course bridging, the institution would hold the Special Selection Process in 2024.2 BI-CPL, with registrations open from September 3rd to 5th.

In order to make the extraordinary process viable, the Ufba Academic Council approved ⁤reducing the number of places in selection ⁣processes for the external public in the following categories:

1. A reduction in the‍ number of places offered by Sisu 2024, for Psychology, Design, Medicine, Communication, Cultural Production and Journalism courses;

2. ⁤A reduction in the supply of vacancies remaining in the annual selection process: no External Transfer and Graduate vacancies were offered.

The 2024.2 Extraordinary Selection Process includes courses that offer places for the second academic semester and offers 472⁣ transition places, for⁢ different courses. In Medicine, there are 32 vacancies at the Bahia Faculty of Medicine, Salvador ⁣campus, a number that doubles the annual offer of vacancies, according to ⁣Ufba.

“The‌ process of defining the⁢ number of vacancies ‌was widely discussed with student representatives from ⁤the Academic Centers of the Interdisciplinary Baccalaureate, representatives from the Institute of Humanities,⁤ Arts ⁢and Sciences (IHAC), advisers from ⁤the‌ Academic Teaching Council (CAE) and⁢ representatives‍ from‍ UFBA university units, between the months of June and December 2023⁤ and the total number of⁣ vacancies ‌and courses that take part in this‍ Extraordinary Notice was published in March 2024, at a meeting of the Council”, said the ⁣dean of Undergraduate Education, Nancy Vieira.

Expansion of vacancies

With the additional process, this year, exceptionally, Ufba offered 1,756 places for the BI-CPL Selection Process in two minutes:

a) in‌ 2024.1, in the ⁣regular process which offered 1,284 vacancies;

b) ‍in the extraordinary process which ensured that 472 places‍ were available, in all courses that have new classes in‍ the second semester.

In‍ terms of Medicine, the ‍total number‍ of places available in 2024 ‍on the Linear Progression Course increased⁤ from ‌41 places to 73 places. On the ⁢Salvador campus, in the Regular Selection Process, it was ensured that 32 vacancies were available, distributed as follows: 16 vacancies in the first semester and 16 vacancies in the second semester. With the⁣ extraordinary competition, the ‍same number ‌were available for entry to ‌the academic semester: 32 places.

In Vitória da ⁢Conquista, 9 vacancies were opened in the first semester alone through regular selection, ⁢as the campus does not offer new⁢ classes in the second academic semester.
