She holds an N2 Japanese qualification and is fluent in Japanese, both in speaking and writing. Before graduating, she plans to challenge for the N1 highest qualification.
Despite having lived in Hong Kong for only a year, Yvonne speaks Cantonese fluently, showcasing her exceptional language skills. When asked about her secret, Yvonne shared, “I’m interested in languages, maybe a little bit of talent, but I’ve given 99 points to do what I think I’m best.”
Yvonne has also worked as a Japanese translator, English teacher, and taught Cantonese to mainlanders in Hong Kong. In addition to Mandarin, English, Cantonese, and Japanese, Yvonne also knows a little bit of Korean and sign language.
Yvonne’s interests extend beyond languages. She enjoys bitter foods, such as bitter melon and 99% dark chocolate, and uses the concept of “bitter” and “sweetness” as a metaphor for life: “I can jump out of my comfort zone and become a better version of myself.”
