Beninese Economist William Gbohoui Appointed as IMF Resident Representative in Burkina Faso
William Gbohoui, a renowned Beninese economist, has been appointed as the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Burkina Faso.
William Gbohoui, previously based in the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the IMF in Algeria, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. As an expert on budgetary rules, he has supervised the budgetary sector for Burkina Faso and Indonesia, and has worked in the European Department.
With 15 years of experience in economic matters, Gbohoui’s international career spans multiple organizations, including the African Development Bank in Tunis. He has also worked in the public and private sectors in Benin, before transitioning to international roles. His expertise in public finance has been demonstrated through his contributions to several issues of the Public Finance Monitor.
A native of Benin, Gbohoui has a deep understanding of the African continent, particularly the western region. He has worked on ECOWAS trade agreements in the African department of the IMF, leveraging his knowledge to drive economic growth and development.
Gbohoui holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Montreal, where he previously taught econometrics and macroeconomics. He also holds a degree in Statistical Economist Engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure de Statistique et d’Économie Appliquée (ENSEA) in Abidjan.
