The Chicago Bears have completed their 2026 NFL Draft class with the selection of seven players, adding depth and competition across multiple positions as part of a roster-building strategy focused on toughness and versatility.
The Bears’ draft class includes Dillon Thieneman, a safety from Oregon selected in the first round with the 25th overall pick; Logan Jones, an offensive lineman from Iowa taken in the second round at No. 57; and Sam Roush, a tight end from Stanford chosen in the third round at No. 69. These selections were highlighted in the team’s official coverage of the draft, which emphasized the players’ collegiate achievements and fit within the Bears’ system.
In the later rounds, Chicago added Zavion Thomas, Malik Muhammad, Keyshaun Elliott and Jordan van den Berg. Thomas and Muhammad were selected in the fourth and fifth rounds respectively, while Elliott, a linebacker, was chosen with the 166th overall pick in the fifth round. Jordan van den Berg, a defensive lineman from Georgia Tech, was the final pick, acquired after the Bears traded up to select him at No. 213 overall in the sixth round.
According to the Bears’ official website, the team viewed the draft class as embodying their “competitive DNA,” with general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson expressing satisfaction with the intensity and football commitment of the newly drafted players. The organization released photos and video content featuring each prospect, including footage of van den Berg’s collegiate highlights and press conference appearances by several rookies.
Poles specifically noted that the selection of Logan Jones was made with an eye toward 2027, intending for Jones to develop behind veteran Garrett Bradbury while cross-training at guard. Similarly, Dillon Thieneman was cited for his 4.35-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine, a trait that aligned with Poles’ emphasis on adding speed to the defense. Thieneman is expected to compete for a starting role alongside safety Coby Bryant.
The Bears’ 2026 draft class reflects a continued focus on building through the draft under Poles’ leadership, combining athletic testing metrics, positional versatility, and character evaluations. All seven players are now part of the team’s rookie cohort and will begin offseason workouts as they prepare for training camp and the upcoming season.
