Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang City Elects New President

The Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang city has just held its 5th Congress, term 2024 – 2029. Ms. Le Thi Thai Thanh (Ceci Le Pham), a French expatriate, was elected as President of the 5th term, term 2024 – 2029.

The congress agreed that in the coming term, the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang City will increase contacts with individuals and organizations of Vietnamese people abroad; strengthen the role of the Association as a bridge between the overseas Vietnamese community, including intellectuals, businessmen, international students, etc., and compatriots in the country.

The congress called on overseas Vietnamese, relatives of overseas Vietnamese, and Da Nang people living in and outside the country to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, joining hands and contributing to building a prosperous, peaceful, civilized, and modern Da Nang city.

Executive Committee Elected

The congress elected the Executive Committee of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang City for the 2024-2029 term with 31 members. Ms. Le Thi Thai Thanh (Ceci Le Pham), a French expatriate, was elected as President of the Association for the 5th term, 2024-2029 term.

Association’s Role and Objectives

The Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang City was established to act as a bridge connecting overseas Vietnamese to their homeland and country. Thereby, strengthening and consolidating the great solidarity bloc, guiding overseas Vietnamese to their national roots to make positive contributions to the cause of building their homeland and country.

Past Achievements and Future Plans

According to the report at the Congress, during the past term, the Association promoted propaganda work through overseas Vietnamese relatives, conveying the viewpoints of the Party and State to overseas Vietnamese; promptly grasping their thoughts and feelings, helping overseas Vietnamese perceive and correctly evaluate the achievements, the process of innovation, reform, and the strong development of Da Nang city in particular and the whole country in general.

The program “Meeting with overseas Vietnamese on the occasion of Lunar New Year” organized by the Association in coordination with the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City is also a place for overseas Vietnamese to express their thoughts and aspirations. This is also an opportunity for city leaders to inform about the socio-economic development situation of Da Nang, recognizing the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the overall development of the city.

The Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang City has proactively grasped the thoughts, aspirations and recommendations of overseas Vietnamese to promptly reflect them to the city government to help and protect the legitimate and legal rights of overseas Vietnamese as well as work related to overseas Vietnamese. During the time Da Nang was the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Association proposed to the City Front and the Department of Foreign Affairs to vaccinate overseas Vietnamese and their relatives living and working in Da Nang against the Covid-19 epidemic. At the same time, the Association mobilized overseas Vietnamese and international students to support and contribute a lot of medical equipment and supplies to support the people of Da Nang city in preventing and fighting the epidemic.
