is deeply rooted in a pivotal moment from the early stages of Fairchild’s career. In 2003, while performing as a 19-year-old Soloist, she was called upon to dance the role of Swanilda during the company’s season in Saratoga Springs.
The opportunity arose following a series of injuries within the company during that season. Fairchild ultimately performed the role in all four scheduled appearances, which included two performances on a single day.
Reflecting on the challenges of that period, Fairchild recalled her initial uncertainty regarding the demanding schedule.
