Megan Moroney, the most nominated artist at the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards, will not be in attendance at the ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 17, 2026.

Despite leading the field with nine nominations, Moroney confirmed she is unable to join her peers for the event due to personal commitments. The singer is currently serving as the maid of honor for her close friend’s wedding.

Moroney announced her absence via social media on the morning of May 17, 2026, informing fans that she is out of the country to assist with the wedding festivities. In a post shared on Instagram, the singer included a photograph of herself and her friend, Natalie, wearing matching Bridesmaid and Bride sweatsuits.

“I’m so honored to be nominated tonight at @acmawards & I’m rooting on all my friends from afar! I’m out of the country this week on MOH duty to get my bestie married,” Moroney shared with her followers.

The wedding involves a person who has long been a part of Moroney’s musical narrative. Natalie was the subject of Moroney’s 2021 song Wonder, a track in which the singer offers guidance to a friend navigating an unstable relationship. In the song, Moroney advises her friend to consider if her partner is the right person, suggesting that it may be better to wait for someone who treats her with respect and consistency.

ACM Award Nominations

Moroney’s nine nominations at this year’s ACM Awards include several of the genre’s most significant honors. She is a contender for the Entertainer of the Year award, as well as Female Artist of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year.

Her musical success over the past year is further reflected in the Single of the Year category, where her track 6 Months Later has earned a nomination.

Album Success and Upcoming Tour

The nominations come during a period of significant commercial momentum for Moroney. Her February 2026 album, Cloud 9, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 all-genre albums chart. The project has produced two top 10 hits on the Country Airplay chart: Beautiful Things and 6 Months Later.

Following the awards season, Moroney is scheduled to begin her Cloud 9 arena headlining tour. The tour is set to kick off on May 29, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio.

The 2026 ACM Awards will be streamed live on Amazon’s Prime Video starting at 8 p.m. ET.
