she serves as the civilian advisor for the Soldier and Family Readiness Group for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the U.S. Army Recruiting Division.

As part of her work with the Fort Knox Spouses and Community Club, Rhodes participates in the Mother Flocker program, which involves placing a flock of flamingos in the yards of community members to celebrate their birthdays.

Rhodes stated that her objective in these positions is to prove through these roles that military spouses are powerful community leaders.

Motivation and Background

The drive to establish support systems for other military spouses was inspired by Rhodes’ own experiences. She noted that when she first became a military spouse, the demanding nature of her husband’s recruiting assignment, coupled with long training periods and frequent travel, could be isolating.

This experience led her to increase her involvement to build a support network for herself and other spouses facing similar challenges. Rhodes has remained an active member of the various communities she joined across five permanent changes of station.
